In FlowWright Process Designer, the Agent Test feature simulates and validates how a workflow behaves when executed by an agent (user or role)—without running the full workflow in production.
Purpose of Agent Test.
The Agent Test helps you:
- Verify task routing logic
- Validate form behavior and data flow
- Check assignment rules (users, roles, or dynamic participants)
- Ensure step-level configuration works as expected
What It Does.
When you use Agent Test on a process definition:
- It creates a test instance.
- Assigns it to a selected user or role (agent).
- Interacts with the step form and actions just like a real user would.
- Executes any step-level rules, validations, and transitions.
When to Use It.
Use Agent Test when:
- Designing or modifying a workflow step
- Troubleshooting assignment or routing issues
- Validating form fields, rules, or outcomes
- Testing user experience before deployment
On the process designer, select the “Actions > Agent Test”.

Provide values (optional) to the variables or globals listed in the right pane. Select the checkbox to save the process instance. Click the “Start Testing” button.

A new process instance is generated and executed by the “Agent Test”. The result is rendered in a pop-up window. In the example below, the test succeeds without errors.

In the example below, the test has failed with errors, and the details are listed in the table. These errors are to be resolved manually before “Agent Testing” again.
