clsExcelToVarsGlobal Step

Use this step to map Excel cells to the variables or globals.

Description:

This step maps the Excel cells to the variables or globals. Note: The Excel file should be located in the application server folder path. 

 

Inputs

  • inputFilePath – path to the Excel file
  • workSheetName - worksheet name
  • mapping - map Excel cell references to the variables or globals
 

 

Returns

  • True – step executed successfully 
  • False - step failed to execute

Example:

Let’s build and execute the “clsExcelToVarsGlobalDef” example:

  • Create a new process definition called “clsExcelToVarsGlobalDef” and open the definition in designer mode. 
  • Drag an “clsExcelToVarsGlobal” step to the canvas.
  • Connect the dots between the “Start” and “clsExcelToVarsGlobal” steps, as shown above. 
  • Click the "clsExcelToVarsGlobal" step to configure its "Required" properties. Provide a name for the step. Provide the path to the Excel file. Click the button to create the mappings. Click the Save button. Note: Click the "AI Predict" button for the Copilot to add new process steps that match your process description. 

 

  • An image of the Excel file used in this example is included below for reference. 

 

  • Click the button to create the mappings. A pop-up window is displayed for configuration. Click the Add Row (+) button to insert an empty row. Provide the Excel cell reference and a variable or global reference to store the value. Click the Save button. You may insert multiple mappings by using the Add Row button. 

 

  • Click the "clsExcelToVarsGlobal" step to configure its "Optional" properties. Provide the worksheet name. Click the Save button. 

 

  • The “Logging” setting configuration is necessary for documentation and also measures the workflow progress and the percent complete. This is achieved by configuring the step state and percent fields individually, as shown in the images below. Configure the “Logging” using the following properties.

 

  • Save the process definition, create a new instance, and then execute it. Render the process instance. Click the process step to view its properties. The step should map the Excel cell values to the variables or globals, as configured.
