Description:
This step converts Excel (.XLS, .XLSX, .CSV) or Text (.TXT) file content to an XML file.
Inputs
- excelOrTxtVariable - Variable/Global that holds the Excel or Txt file path
- isFirstColumnHeader - First Column is Header
- xmlFilePath - Variable/Global that stores the XML file path
Returns
- True – step executed successfully
- False – step failed to execute

Example:
Let’s build and execute the “ExcelOrTxtToXMLDef” example.
- Create a new process definition called “ExcelOrTxtToXMLDef” and open the definition in designer mode.
- Drag an “ExcelOrTxtToXML” step to the canvas.
- Connect the dots between the “Start” step and “ExcelOrTxtToXML” steps, as shown above.
- Configure a variable or a global to store the result after execution.
- Click the "ExcelOrTxtToXML" step to configure its "Required" properties. Provide a name for the step. Provide a variable or global reference to the file path that holds the application server's XLS or TXT file. Provide the variable or global reference to store the XML file path. Click the Save button. Note: Click the "AI Predict" button for the Copilot to add new process steps that match your process description.

- Click the "ExcelOrTxtToXML" step to configure its "Optional" properties. Click the Save button.

- The “Logging” setting configuration is necessary for documentation and also measures the workflow progress and the percent complete. This is achieved by configuring the step state and percent fields individually, as shown below. Configure the “Logging” using the following properties.

- Save the process definition, create an instance, and then execute it. Select and render the process instance to check the step properties. The process step should make an XML file as configured.
