Application Roles Management

Learn about application roles management.

This function allows you to manage application roles and user mapping as an Admin user. 

You can navigate to the Administration - User Management menu option. 

 

The Users page is rendered in a new tab, as shown below.

 

Select the Users management menu to navigate to the Application Roles page.

 

The Application Roles page is rendered in a new tab, as shown below. In this example, the application role categories are organized into groups, and the associated roles are listed alphabetically, with the user count displayed as a list.  

 

Click the plus sign (+) to expand or collapse the user list. Scroll the page to view other application role categories listed below. 

 

Application Roles - Actions.

Select the "Actions" menu to navigate to “Create, Edit, and Remove” features.  You can create and manage Application Roles using these features. 

 

Application Roles - Actions - Create.

Select the "Actions - Create" menu option to add a new application role or a new application category. 

 

A pop-up window is displayed for configuration. Provide a new application role name. Select the application category from the drop-down list OR type a new category name in the text box. Click the Create button.  

 

The new role is added to the application category, and a confirmation message is displayed in the top-right corner as shown below.  As you can see, there are no users mapped to the “Audit” application role. 

 

Select the application role and click the Utils - Manage Users menu option to add. 

 

A pop-up window is displayed for configuration. Type the user name in the search text box to view the list of “Available Users”. Select the user and choose the right arrow key to move to “Selected Users” group on the right. 

 

The “Selected Users” group includes the choice as shown below. You can use the left arrow key to move the user back to “Available Users” to undo the selection. Click the Save button to confirm the changes. 

 

The user is successfully mapped to the application role, and a confirmation message is displayed in the top-right corner.  As you can see, there is one user mapped to the “Audit” application role. 

 

Application Roles - Actions - Edit.

Select the application role from the list and click the "Actions - Edit" menu option to add a new application role or a new application category. 

 

A pop-up window is displayed for modifications. Provide the changes and click the Update button. 

 

The application role changes are updated successfully, and a confirmation message is displayed in the top-right corner.  As you can see, the application role has been updated to “Audit Team”. 

 

Application Roles - Actions - Remove.

Select the application role from the list and click the "Actions - Remove" menu option to remove the application role permanently. Note: You need to empty the Application Role by unmapping the users before it can be removed. You cannot remove an Application Category once it has been created. 

 

A pop-up window is displayed for confirmation. Click the OK button. 

 

An alert notification message is displayed in the top-right corner. Note: Users must be unmapped from the application role first by navigating to the “Utils - Manage Users” function. 

 

Now that the users are unmapped from the Application Role, select the application role from the list and click the "Actions - Remove" menu option

 

A pop-up window is displayed for confirmation. Click the OK button. 

 

The application role is removed successfully, and a confirmation message is displayed in the top-right corner. 

 

 

Application Roles - Utils.

Select the application role from the list and click the "Utils - Manage Users" menu option to modify the users mapping to this application role.   

 

A pop-up window is displayed for modifications. The current set of users mapped to the application role is listed under “Selected Users” group.  

 

You can add to this list by typing the username in the search text box and choosing the user from the list. You can remove the selected user by using the left arrow key and add again using the right arrow key. Click the Save button to confirm the changes. 

 

The selected user list is updated, and a confirmation message is displayed in the top-right corner, as shown below. 

 

 

Application Roles - Statistics.

Select the “Statistics - Application Role” menu option to view the count of the users mapped to all the application roles.    

 

The statistical bar chart is rendered in the new page. Move the mouse pointer to view the application role user count as shown below.  

 

Select the “View - Table” menu option. 

 

The application roles, along with the user count, are displayed in the table view as shown below.
