copyFile Step

Use this step to copy a file to another folder.

Description:

This step copies a file from one folder to another on the server.

Inputs

  • filePath – path to the source file on the App server
  • copyToDirectory – directory path to copy the file to on the App server
  • newFilePathVarGlobal – Variable/Global to store new file path
 

 

Returns

  • True – step executed successfully
  • False – step failed to execute

Example:

Let’s build and execute the “copyFileDef” example.         

  • Create a new definition called “copyFileDef”
  • Select the definition and click the “design” button
  • Drag a “copyFile” step from the toolbox
  • Connect the dots between the start and “copyFile” step
  • Configure Variable variable.newFilePath as string 
  • Click on the “copyFile” step to configure its “Settings” properties. Provide a name to the step. 
  • Click on the “copyFile” step to configure its “Advanced” properties. Provide the file path info. Provide the destination file path info. Provide a variable/global to store the file path after execution.  
  • The “Logging” setting configuration is necessary for documentation and also measure the workflow progress and the percent complete. This is acheived by configuring the step state and percent fields individually as shown in the images below. Configure the “Logging” using the following properties.
  • Save the process definition, create a new process instance and execute. Render the process instance. Click on the process step to view the properties. The step should copy the file to new location and store the result file path in the variable/global. 
  • Navigate to Status - File Management page to view the changes.
