Description:
This step splits each page of a PDF into a PDF or PNG file.
Inputs
- pdfFile – path to PDF file on the application server
- pageType – output file type as PDF or PNG
- scaleFactor - scale factor for PNG output
- pages - page range 1-5 or 1,3,4
- varGlobal – variable or global to store the output file path
Returns
- True – step executed successfully
- False – step failed to execute
Usage:

Example:
Let’s build and execute the “PDFSplitpagesDef” example.
- Create a new process definition called “PDFSplitpagesDef” and open it in Designer mode.
- Drag a “PDFSplitpages” step to the canvas.
- Connect the dots between the “Start” step and “PDFSplitpages” steps, as shown above.
- Define a variable or a global to store the result.
- Click the "PDFSplitpages" step to configure its "Required" properties. Provide a name for the step. Provide the source PDF file path. Provide the variable or global reference to store the output file path. Select the output file type between PDF and PNG. Click the Save button. Note: Click the "AI Predict" button for the Copilot to add new process steps that match your process description.

- Click the "PDFSplitpages" step to configure its "Optional" properties. Provide the scale factor for PNG output. Provide the page range value. Click the Save button. Note: The scaling option is specified as a value. The input PNG always has a value of 1, which is equal to its original size. To make the image twice as large, you can set the scale to 2.

- The “Logging” setting configuration is necessary for documentation and also measures the workflow progress and the percent complete. This is achieved by configuring the step state and percent fields individually, as shown in the images below. Configure the “Logging” using the following properties.

- Save the process definition, create a new instance, and then execute it. Render the process instance. Click the process step to view its properties. The “PDFSplitpages” step should split each page of a PDF into a PDF or PNG file and store the file path information in the variable or global, as configured.

Definition Sample:
You may download the sample definition(s) from the link here and later import them (drag-and-drop) to your FlowWright Process Definition (XML file) or Form Definition (HTML file) page.
Note: Please verify and complete the process steps for any missing configurations, such as file path references and database connections, after import. Then, save the definition to confirm the changes.
