Description:

First Middle Last Name — Provides a form widget for use in FlowWright forms where first-name, middle-name, and last-name information may be required as part of the user interface.

Inputs

  • ID/Name - Name of widget generated by FlowWright (read-only field)

Design:

The FirstMiddleLastName widget is a FlowWright form widget in the Engine category. It is implemented by FlowWright.Forms.clsFirstMiddleLastName in FlowWright.Forms.dll and is displayed in the form designer as First Middle Last Name.

Use the First Middle Last Name widget when designing a FlowWright form that requires a component associated with a person's name.

Potential applications include employee information forms, customer registration forms, contact forms, and other business forms that collect name information.

Typical Workflow Suggestions:

Customer Registration

Use the FirstMiddleLastName widget on a customer registration form where the customer's name is part of the registration information.

Example workflow:

Start → Customer Registration Form → Validate Customer Information → Create Customer Record → End

Consider the widget for the name-entry section of the registration form. Verify its actual field layout and data-binding behavior before implementation.

Employee Onboarding

Use the widget on an employee onboarding form where name information is required for HR processing.

Example workflow:

Start → Employee Onboarding Form → HR Review → Create Employee Record → End

The widget may be used as part of the personal-information section of the form, subject to confirmation of its runtime behavior.

Contact Information Management

Use the widget on a contact information form where a person's name is collected alongside email address and phone number.

Example workflow:

Start → Contact Form → Validate Contact Information → Store Contact Details → End

Evaluate the widget for the name-entry portion of the form.

Vendor Registration

Use the widget on a vendor registration form where the name of a vendor contact needs to be captured.

Example workflow:

Start → Vendor Registration Form → Procurement Review → Approve Vendor → Store Vendor Details → End

Consider the widget for the contact-information section after confirming how it presents and handles name values.

Service Request Submission

Use the widget on a service request form where the requester's name is collected before the request is assigned for processing.

Example workflow:

Start → Service Request Form → Validate Request → Assign Service Team → Process Request → End

The widget may be included in the requester-information section of the form.

Example:

Let’s build and execute the “FirstMiddleLastNameDef” example.

  • Create a Form definition called “FirstMiddleLastNameDef.”
  • Drag a “BootstrapGrid, FirstMiddleLastName, and Submit” control onto the canvas and arrange them as shown below.

  • Double-click the “FirstMiddleLastName” widget to set its “Settings” properties. This control needs no configuration; the application supplies the control name. Click the “Lock Widget” button to toggle the lock/unlock feature and prevent accidental configuration changes. Click the “Save” button.

  • Double-click the text box of the “FirstMiddleLastName” widget to configure the “Settings” properties. The application displays the control name. Enter the placeholder text. Select the data type for user input from the drop-down list. Check the “Required” box for mandatory input. Check the box to hide the control and make it read-only at runtime. Set the maximum character limit. Click the Save button.

  • Double-click the text box of the “FirstMiddleLastName” widget to configure the “Styling” properties. Select the UI width from the drop-down list (Mini, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX-Large). Enter the CSS syntax. Choose the classes to apply from the global drop-down list. Click the Save button.

  • Double-click the text box of the “FirstMiddleLastName” widget to configure the “Other” properties. Enter the tooltip text. Click the Save button.

  • Double-click the text box in the “FirstMiddleLastName” widget to configure the “Globalize” properties. The application will alert you if nothing needs to be globalized, as shown below. Otherwise, select a language from the drop-down list, then click the Translate button. Click the Save button.

  • Save the Form definition. Choose Actions > Create Form Instance from the menu. Generate a new Form instance and check the box to edit it.

  • The Form is shown to the user as displayed below. Enter the user input, then click the Submit button to complete the process.

Tips:

  • Verify the widget's appearance and behavior in the FlowWright form designer before using it in production forms.
  • Confirm whether the widget provides separate fields for first name, middle name, and last name.
  • Check how the component handles names that do not include a middle name.
  • Ensure that the form captures the name information required by the associated business process.
  • Test the form submission and downstream data handling to confirm that name information is processed correctly.
  • Do not assume that the widget supports specific validation, formatting, or data-binding options because they are not exposed in the XML definition.

Definition Sample:

You may download the sample definition(s) from the link provided and later import them (drag-and-drop) into your FlowWright Process Definition (XML file) or Form Definition (HTML file) page.

Note: After the import, verify and complete any missing configurations, such as file path references and database connections. Then, save the definition to confirm the changes.
