Task delegation

Learn to delegate tasks

Last published at: May 1st, 2024

The function of task delegation is to define delegation entries where, if one user is unavailable for a while, their assigned tasks are automatically assigned to another user for the duration. The delegated tasks can also be configured to return to the task owners when the duration is completed. The Task delegations can be easily managed using the following user interface.

Navigate to the Engage - Tasks - Task Delegation page to delegate the tasks.

To create a new task delegation, select the User from the drop-down list and click on the Actions - Create menu option.

The Create Leave Details popup window is displayed for configuration. You have to provide the delegation Start and End dates. Search for the delegated user using the Search text box. Use the All/Available filter to narrow down the user list. During the delegation period, you may select the checkboxes to Auto-Reassign Back and Re-Assign All Open Tasks. Provide the reason for the delegation in the text box provided. Click on the Create button to confirm.

A delegation entry is created for “Alpha-TestUser-1,” where all the OPEN and future tasks are assigned to the delegated user “Alpha-TestUser-3.” A confirmation message is displayed in the top right-hand corner. After the delegation period expires, the application reassigns the Open tasks to the original task owner.

To view the delegated tasks, navigate to the Engage—Tasks page. Here, select the User from the drop-down list and the Delegated option from the Tasks list.
